Ballarat based Australian artist and illustrator Jarrod Hall
Australian artist Jarrod Hall - based in Ballarat, Victoria
I’m an artist and illustrator living with my wife, teenage son and our cat and dog in Ballarat, Australia. Since I was about 8 years old, I’ve been enthralled by stories of fantasy and mythology and by the illustrations of artists such as Michael Hague, Alan Lee and Ted Nasmith. I could spend hours gazing at their intricately detailed artworks and daydreaming of imaginary places. In recent years I have also fallen in love with early 20th century Japanese woodblock prints by artists such as Kawase Hasui and Yashida Hiroshi. The strength of their compositions and their subtle use of colour provide me with infinite inspiration. In a nutshell, I have a passion for the way art can capture and share momentary beauty as well as bring our imagined worlds to life.
My elegant oil paintings make a wonderful center-piece for your home – you can choose one of my finished paintings from the portfolio on this site and I accept commissions if you have something else in mind. A lot of my work is creating using pen and ink; I create charming and detailed pet portraits, and my illustrations are ideal for books, clothing designs and promotional materials.
If you’ve got an idea for a collaboration, an artwork or a project, get in touch. You can also purchase prints, greeting cards, notebooks, and clothing decorated with my artwork on my online shop or my Redbubble store. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
